Abuja: The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesom Wike, expressed his unwavering support for President Ahmed Tinubu during a special event organized to celebrate his 58th birthday at his residence in Abuja. Wike emphasized that he has no regrets about his decision to support Tinubu, a stance he has maintained since 2022.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Wike reiterated that his political decisions are guided by character and integrity. He has consistently supported Tinubu before, during, and after the 2023 presidential election. Wike was a prominent figure from the main opposition party who openly endorsed Tinubu, citing reasons of equity, fairness, and justice. He believes that power should shift to the South.
Wike highlighted his leadership role during the elections in Rivers, where the All Progressives Congress won the presidential poll, while the Peoples Democratic Party secured victories in other elections. He expressed gratitude to his political family and associates for their unwavering support and pledged to continue working with them for the benefit of Rivers and Nigeria.
The event was attended by leaders from different political backgrounds, who celebrated Wike’s achievements and political influence. Among the dignitaries were serving and former members of the National Assembly, members of the Rivers House of Assembly, local government chairmen, and political associates. They all assured him of their continued support.
Amb. Desmond Akawor, Rivers Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, commended Wike as a significant figure in Rivers politics. Akawor noted that Wike’s achievements demonstrated that Tinubu made the right choice in selecting him from the PDP.
Martins Amaewhule, Speaker of the Rivers House of Assembly, expressed gratitude for Wike’s leadership and pledged the assembly members’ loyalty and support.
Mr. Allwell Ihunda, Chairman of Port Harcourt City Local Government, praised Wike as a consistent and compassionate leader. Other dignitaries, including members of the PDP and APC, also expressed their support and admiration for the FCT minister.
