Post: Wike Denies Lobbying for APC Presidential Campaign Director-General Role

Abuja: Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has refuted claims that he is seeking the position of Director-General (DG) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Wike addressed the rumors via a statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Mr. Lere Olayinka. The reports had suggested that Wike was among the top party members and officials being considered or lobbying for the role of DG in the APC presidential campaign.

Wike dismissed these reports as untrue, stating, “I did not at any time discuss leadership or even membership of the PCC with anyone.” He expressed his strong support for President Bola Tinubu’s reelection, emphasizing that holding a position within the PCC is not necessary for him to contribute to Tinubu’s success in Rivers and the FCT.

Wike mentioned that he is currently abroad, taking a break after a busy period of project inaugurations and inspections. He highlighted his commitment to the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda and his determination to bolster Tinubu’s electoral success upon his return.

“I do not need to be the DG or even a member of the Presidential Campaign Council of Mr. President’s political party to contribute my quota,” Wike asserted. He pledged to ensure a resounding victory for Tinubu in both Rivers and the FCT.
