Abuja: Ndudi Elumelu, former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, has emphasized the crucial role women play in nurturing and stabilizing homes, which he believes is fundamental to the growth, unity, and progress of communities and nations. Elumelu, who represented the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in the 9th Assembly, conveyed this message in commemoration of the 2026 International Women’s Day (IWD).
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Elumelu praised the enduring love, sacrifice, and care that women bring to families, describing them as the backbone of the family and the moral pillars upon which society stands. He highlighted the significant impact women have made within the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary, showcasing their strength, resilience, competence, and dedication to public service.
The former minority leader also acknowledged several notable women for their leadership and humanitarian efforts, including Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of the President, for her character and initiatives that advance the Renewed Hope agenda, and Mrs. Tobore Oborevwori, the wife of the Delta governor, for her steadfast support of the MORE Agenda.
Elumelu paid special tribute to Dr. Awele Elumelu for her remarkable leadership in the health sector and her commitment to humanitarian service, as well as to his own wife, Mrs. Ngozi Elumelu, for her unwavering support and inspiration in his life and public service.
Lastly, Elumelu expressed his deep appreciation to the women of the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in Delta for their continuous support of President Bola Tinubu and the Delta governor.
