Abuja: Writing and empowerment were emphasized as crucial elements for intellectual triumph at the launch of a new book titled ‘From Margin to Mainstream, Volume 2: Towards Inclusive Governance,’ authored by Nigerian gender advocate Princess Nikky Onyeri.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Mohammed Ndarani (SAN), described the book as a significant intellectual achievement and a practical tool designed to equip women with essential knowledge, skills, and confidence. He articulated that books serve as vessels of thought and catalysts for change, underscoring the importance of the newly unveiled work as a voice and a vision for societal growth.
Ndarani urged stakeholders to actively engage in empowerment programs, stressing their vital role in societal transformation. He emphasized that empowerment transcends mere slogans, highlighting the importance of equipping individuals to shape their futures. Ndarani expressed pride in the event’s representation of life celebration, learning, and uplifting others.
Princess Nikky Onyeri, founder of the Princess Nikky Breast Cancer Foundation, announced the launch of her new NGO, Rise Up Women Initiative (RUWI), at the event. She shared her personal triumph over breast cancer, marking the event as a thanksgiving and a platform for empowerment sessions aimed at vulnerable women. Onyeri expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for enhancing women’s representation in governance and outlined future plans to empower women in business and advance her political career.
The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, highlighted the importance of investing in women for societal progress and committed to supporting initiatives that advance Nigerian women’s development. She affirmed that under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Women Agenda, women would be provided with avenues to reach their full potential.
Dr. Asabe Vilita-Bashir, Director-General of the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development and the book reviewer, commended Onyeri for showcasing the transformative journey of Nigerian women. She noted that the book aligns with the administration’s mission for women’s development, recognizing their pivotal role in societal advancement.
