Abuja: No fewer than 1.7 million people have benefited from the humanitarian intervention programme of Sen. Abdulaziz Yari in Zamfara over the past three years. This is contained in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by the Chairman of the Sen. Abdulaziz Yari Palliative Distribution Committee, Dr Lawal Liman.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Yari, a former governor of Zamfara, currently represents the Zamfara West Senatorial District. Liman stated that Yari approved 145 truckloads of maize and 42,000 bags of 10kg semovita for distribution to internally displaced persons and vulnerable households across the state. The beneficiaries will be drawn from the 14 local government areas as part of ongoing efforts to cushion the effects of economic hardship and improve food security.
Each local government area is set to receive 10 truckloads of maize and 3,000 bags of semovita for distribution, with additional truckloads reserved to strengthen the distribution process and ensure assistance reaches communities most affected by the prevailing economic challenges. Liman highlighted that no fewer than 210,000 residents across Zamfara’s 147 political wards have been targeted to benefit from the latest phase of the intervention.
The programme reflects Yari’s longstanding commitment to supporting vulnerable families amid persistent economic and social challenges. Over the past three years, the intervention has provided food items, agricultural inputs, and other relief materials to more than 1.7 million residents across the state. Liman urged residents to continue to pray for President Bola Tinubu and Yari, seeking divine wisdom and strength to address Nigeria’s economic and security challenges. He reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to ensuring a transparent, fair, and orderly distribution process, with all approved relief materials delivered promptly to intended beneficiaries.
