Lagos: The All Progressives Congress (APC) Screening Committee for the Lagos State House of Assembly primaries has announced the successful screening of 184 aspirants vying for the party’s tickets across 40 constituencies in the state. Mr. Porok Fomson, the chairman of the screening committee, revealed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) after the completion of the exercise.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Fomson expressed satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the screening, attributing its success to the commitment and resilience of both party members and the aspirants. He noted that all 184 aspirants who had purchased forms and appeared before the committee were successfully screened in alignment with the party’s constitution and democratic principles.
Fomson highlighted that only four aspirants withdrew from the race after purchasing nomination forms, with no withdrawals recorded during the screening process. He clarified that the committee’s mandate was solely to screen asp
irants for the State House of Assembly, while screenings for governorship and National Assembly positions were conducted in Abuja by separate committees.
The screening results are expected to be released on Tuesday, following the committee’s completion of documentation and record harmonization. Fomson urged aspirants to remain loyal to the party, regardless of the screening outcome, emphasizing the party’s capacity to accommodate all members.
Kosofe Constituency I recorded the highest number of aspirants with ten, followed by Epe Constituency II with nine, and Surulere Constituency II with eight aspirants. The distribution of aspirants across other constituencies was also detailed, reflecting varied levels of competition.
Fomson concluded by encouraging aspirants to exhibit patience and acceptance of the screening results, underscoring the party’s role as a unifying entity for all its members.
