Post: 2027: Kwara North APC Endorses Bolarinwa for Governor

Ilorin: The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara North Senatorial District has endorsed Dr. Bashir Bolarinwa as the governorship candidate for the 2027 election in the state. The announcement was made by Malam Lukman Sabi-Musa, the Coordinator of the Group, at a news conference in Ilorin.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the conference, attended by key stakeholders of the party from Edu, Patigi, Moro, Kaiama, and Baruten Local Government Areas, also saw the group backing the re-election of President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election. The group emphasized that while there is an aspiration for a Kwara North governorship candidate, the focus should be on competence and the ability to deliver development.

Sabi-Musa clarified that their endorsement of Bolarinwa, who hails from Kwara South Senatorial District, is based on his track record of integrity and administrative competence. He stressed the importance of governance transcending ethnic and sectional considerations and focusing on qualities that ensure inclusive governance and equitable development.

The group dissociated itself from claims that the governorship candidate must come from Kwara North, arguing that such ambitions should not compromise the quality of leadership. Sabi-Musa pointed out that despite years of representation, developmental progress in Kwara North remains a concern, with the region needing leadership that is not constrained by external influences.

The Coordinator rejected attempts to secure a Kwara North governorship ticket through coercion and lobbying, emphasizing the need for credible leadership. He highlighted Bolarinwa’s experience and leadership during the O to Ge Revolution as evidence of his capability to deliver impactful governance.

Sabi-Musa concluded by reaffirming the group’s commitment to a future where democracy benefits are tangible and evenly distributed across all regions of Kwara.
