Post: Abdulrahaman Mohammed Emerges as New PDP National Chairman at Abuja Convention


Abuja: Abdulrahaman Mohammed has emerged as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the party’s national convention held in Abuja on Sunday.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, Mohammed and other new members of the National Working Committee (NWC) were elected through consensus votes to lead the party for the next four years. The Chairman of the Convention Electoral Committee, Prof. Sandy Onor, announced the members of the new NWC, which include Aaron Chukwuemeka as Deputy National Chairman (South) and Yusufu Akirikwen, SAN, as Deputy National Chairman (North).



The newly elected members also include Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary and Kolawole Olabisi as Deputy National Secretary. Diran Odeyemi was elected as the National Treasurer, with Lado Mark as Deputy National Treasurer. Eyim Henry is now the National Financial Secretary, and Dr. Grema Kyari serves as Deputy National Financial Secretary. Umar Bature was elected National Organising Secretary, and Efere Augustine as Deputy National Organising Secretary.



Other elected members include Jungudo Mohammed as National Publicity Secretary and Egwu Chidiebere as Deputy National Publicity Secretary. Kamaldeen Ajibade was named National Legal Adviser, with Aloysius Uba as Deputy National Legal Adviser. Osuoha Donatus took on the role of National Auditor, while Dr. Adaba Yatu was elected as Deputy National Auditor. Prof. Ogunshe Adedayo and Hauwa Shinge were elected as National Woman Leader and Deputy National Woman Leader, respectively.



Ibrahim Aboki emerged as the National Youth Leader, and Momoh Bashir will serve as the Deputy National Youth Leader. The new NWC members were immediately sworn in following their election.



In his acceptance speech, Mohammed pledged not to disappoint the party and promised that the new NWC would work with the party leadership to promote unity and reposition the PDP for electoral victory in 2027.
