Post: AFCON 2025: FG Clears Super Eagles’ Bonus Payments, Assures No More Delays

Abuja: The Minister of State for Finance, Mrs. Doris Uzoka-Anite, has announced that the administrative processes concerning the Super Eagles’ AFCON 2025 match bonuses have been successfully streamlined. This statement aims to address concerns regarding delayed payments to Nigeria’s national football team members.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Uzoka-Anite shared this update on her official X handle on Thursday. It comes in response to media reports suggesting that players had threatened to boycott training and refused to travel to Marrakech for the upcoming quarter-final match against Algeria. The minister clarified that the Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria have resolved the foreign exchange issues that were hindering the prompt settlement of the players’ entitlements.

Uzoka-Anite confirmed that all group-stage bonuses have been fully released after passing through the necessary regulatory stages. She assured that there would be no further administrative delays. The authorities have implemented a fast-track conversion process to accommodate the players’ preference for receiving payments in foreign currency.

She further assured that the final transfers to the players’ domiciliary accounts are underway and should be reflected today or tomorrow.
