Lagos: The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, has expressed his condolences to celebrated Nigerian author Chimamanda Adichie following the death of her son. Obi, who previously served as governor of Anambra, conveyed his sympathy through a message posted on his X handle. He explained that he had been closely following the illness of Adichie’s son, Nkanu, since becoming aware of it on January 2.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Chimamanda Adichie’s toddler twin passed away at 21 months old on Wednesday. Obi shared that during this challenging period, he felt a deep sense of empathy for Adichie and her family. He participated in their anxiety, prayed earnestly, and hoped for Nkanu’s recovery. The news of the child’s passing was profoundly heartbreaking for Obi.
Obi stated, “I am personally devastated, thinking of the immense pain my dear sister must be experiencing as a mother, along with her husband, Dr. Ivara.” He extended his heartfelt condolences to the family, acknowledging the indescribable loss they are enduring.
