Post: AGROMEQA Expo 2026 to Promote Mechanisation and Investment in Nigerian Agriculture

Abuja: The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has announced that the AGROMEQA Expo is set to promote mechanisation, technology transfer, and investment to enhance Nigeria’s agricultural productivity and agro-export competitiveness. Chief Emeka Obegolu, President of the ACCI, revealed this at a news conference focused on Agricultural Mechanisation and Export of Quality Products in Africa (AGROMEQA) Expo 2026, held on Tuesday in Abuja.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Obegolu, represented by Prof. Adesoji Adesugba, the First Deputy President of the ACCI, stated that the expo would be co-organised by the Agricultural Trade Group and JMT Plus Farms and Agro-Allied, in collaboration with the ACCI. The initiative aims to reposition Nigeria’s agricultural sector for increased productivity, value addition, mechanisation, and global export competitiveness. The expo will serve as a platform for promoting agricultural mechanisation and enhancing export-quality production systems.

Obegolu emphasized that the expo would encourage value addition, facilitate technology transfer, and attract sustainable investments across the agribusiness value chain. He noted that the initiative aligns with national priorities on food security, economic diversification, job creation, industrial development, and export-led growth. The theme of the expo is ‘Technology and Investment for Agro-Export,’ and it is scheduled for October 15 and 16, 2026.

The expo will feature exhibitions of advanced agricultural technologies, including mechanised equipment, precision farming tools, and irrigation systems. Other technologies to be showcased include agro-processing innovations, packaging solutions, and climate-smart agricultural technologies. The event will also include plenary sessions, technical discussions, workshops, business-to-business engagements, and investment forums designed to foster collaboration, mobilise capital, promote technology transfer, and facilitate strategic partnerships.

Obegolu highlighted that the expo would serve as an investment marketplace connecting producers, agritech developers, farmers, processors, and agribusinesses with potential investors. Investment opportunities will span mechanisation, processing, logistics, storage, packaging, and export operations. A live demonstration arena will enable participants to experience modern farming technologies and equipment in action, while a dedicated agro-processing and packaging platform will highlight opportunities for local value addition and improved competitiveness.

Additionally, the expo will feature a Schools’ Agro Exhibition and Competition to stimulate innovation and youth participation in agriculture. Obegolu urged government agencies, private-sector operators, development partners, financial institutions, and farmers’ associations to actively participate in the expo. He stated that collaboration, innovation, investment, and capital mobilisation are essential to transforming agriculture and positioning Nigeria as a major agro-export player.
