Abuja: The arraignment of the Chief Executive Officer of EFAB Properties Limited, Fabian Nwaora, for alleged forgery was on Monday stalled due to his absence in an Abuja High Court. The Inspector-General of Police charged Nwaora with seven counts bordering on forgery.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the defence counsel, Ezekiel Egbo, informed the court that Nwaora was not present because he was served with the charge late, at 3.00 pm on Friday. The prosecution counsel, Eba Favour, standing in for Wisdom Madaki, requested the court to set a new date for the arraignment.
The trial judge, Justice Aliyu Shafa, decided to adjourn the matter until March 16 for arraignment, citing the interest of justice. The police have accused Nwaora of forging international passport no. A01646675 with the name Kenneth Chinedu Ogbogu, allegedly issued by the Nigeria Immigration Service on or about April 5, 2024.
Additionally, the police alleged that Nwaora used the forged passport as genuine and altered a certificate of incorporation for a company named Ke Keneco Investment Ltd, with registration No. 619680, supposedly signed by A. Almustapha, Registrar General. The prosecution further claimed that Nwaora forged a company letterhead, used it as genuine, and also forged a national identity number purportedly issued by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).
