Post: APC Analyzes Osun Governorship Election Results

Osogbo: The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun has announced that its leadership is currently examining the results of Saturday’s governorship election. According to News Agency of Nigeria, this development was revealed in a statement by Kola Olabisi, APC’s Director of Media and Information, issued on Sunday in Osogbo.

The APC emphasized its intention to explore all constitutional options available to determine its future actions. The party acknowledged that the electoral process is comprehensive, starting with voter registration, moving through primary elections, and extending to the Tribunal, the Court of Appeal, and ultimately the Supreme Court. It highlighted the necessity of utilizing all legally sanctioned avenues to address any irregularities observed during the election, as specified in the amended Electoral Act of 2026.

The statement commended the dedication and loyalty of the party’s members and supporters, acknowledging their significant contributions in reaching this pivotal moment in the state’s political landscape. It reiterated the APC’s foundational commitment to the rule of law, fairness, and justice. The party is set to consult with its legal team and consider their professional advice before deciding on the next steps, especially in light of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) declaration of the election results.

In light of the recent developments, the party urged its members and supporters to remain calm and continue with their daily activities, cautioning them against reacting to provocations from the ruling party. The APC reassured its members that the current political situation is temporary and encouraged them not to lose hope, emphasizing that the matter is not concluded yet.

Furthermore, the party called upon the Nigeria Police Force to ensure the safety of its members and supporters, who they claim are facing undue harassment from the ruling party’s members. The APC expressed confidence that justice will ultimately prevail, marking this phase as a mere historical footnote.

NAN reports that INEC declared Ademola Adeleke as the winner of the election in the early hours of Sunday, with Adeleke securing 511,067 votes. His closest competitor, Bola Oyebamiji of the APC, garnered 444,815 votes, while the candidate from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Najeem Salaam, finished third with 17,180 votes.
