Abuja:An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Sam Onuigbo, has endorsed the inclusion of prominent opposition politicians in the party’s Presidential Campaign Council, describing it as a strategic move.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Onuigbo highlighted the appointment of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, along with governors Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra and Ademola Adeleke of Osun, into President Bola Tinubu’s campaign team. He emphasized that these politicians are strong supporters of Tinubu’s administration, justifying their roles in the re-election efforts.
Onuigbo, who previously represented the Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency in the 8th Assembly, stated that the appointments reflect a democratic alliance rooted in solidarity for administrative excellence. He noted that some opposition members joined the campaign out of a shared commitment to the well-being of the Nigerian people.
He further explained that democracy thrives on consensual governance rather than force, aiming to promote the greatest happiness for the majority. Onuigbo praised the inclusion of opposition figures in the campaign as a demonstration of democracy in action.
Onuigbo also commended President Tinubu’s performance in economic reforms, citing growth in GDP, a unified exchange rate, and increased crude oil production. He expressed confidence in Tinubu’s capability to elevate Nigeria’s status internationally if re-elected.
Additionally, Onuigbo praised the infrastructural achievements in Abuja under Tinubu and Wike’s leadership, crediting the APC-led government with addressing the capital’s infrastructure challenges.
