Post: DLA Launches 2027 Campaigns with Emphasis on Governance and Security

Abuja:The Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA) has initiated its campaign for the 2027 general elections, emphasizing the need for improved security, police reform, and accountable governance to tackle Nigeria’s economic and social challenges.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the party’s National Chairman, Mr. Samuel Memeh, highlighted these issues during the campaign launch and the presentation of Certificates of Return to the candidates in Abuja. Memeh pointed out the critical need for policies addressing insecurity, poverty, unemployment, rising living costs, and inadequate public services.

He advocated for intelligence-driven security operations, utilizing modern technology and improved training for security personnel, along with better intelligence sharing and accountability in security spending. Memeh also emphasized the importance of reforming the Nigeria Police Force through enhanced welfare, professional training, modern investigative tools, and effective supervision. He supported the idea of constitutionally safeguarded state policing, provided it included measures to prevent political misuse and protect citizens’ rights.

On economic matters, Memeh urged the Federal Government to tackle rising living costs, declining purchasing power, and poverty. He stressed the need for reforms to enhance access to affordable food, employment, and better living standards. The DLA plans to promote production, manufacturing, modern agriculture, renewable energy, science, technology, and innovation to reduce reliance on consumption and imports.

Memeh called on party leaders to recognize policy failures and propose credible alternatives, encouraging continuous political engagement beyond election periods. He also urged candidates and members to maintain unity, respect the party’s constitution, and conduct peaceful campaigns in line with electoral laws. The Certificates of Return, he stated, symbolized responsibility to the electorate rather than personal entitlement.

Earlier, Mr. Fortune Aghwaretoma, Chairman of the DLA National Campaign Council, encouraged candidates to communicate policies effectively, engage with citizens, and campaign with integrity. He stressed the need for the party to present credible solutions to national challenges and demonstrate its capacity for purposeful leadership, calling for stronger coordination, grassroots mobilization, and unity among party members. The event concluded with the presentation of Certificates of Return to candidates for national and state elections.
