Abuja: The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention Coordination Committee Sectariat (NCCCS) has announced its commitment to a transparent and credible process in the lead-up to its national convention. Chief Lateef Fagbemi, Chairman of the APC NCCCS and Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, made this statement during a committee meeting in Abuja. Represented by the Assistant Secretary of the Committee and Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo, Fagbemi emphasized the party’s dedication to fair play in the upcoming 2027 General Elections.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the APC is taking significant steps to ensure compliance with legal standards, including forming a high-powered legal committee tasked with overseeing adherence to national laws. This committee’s responsibilities include ensuring compliance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Electoral Act, and the party’s constitution, as well as any guidelines issued by the Electoral Body.

agbemi outlined that several committees have been established to address legal frameworks, dispute resolution, documentation, and the drafting of legal instruments necessary for the convention. The party is also focusing on inclusivity among its members, forming a committee to engage with all aspirants and develop a consensus to facilitate a smooth convention process.
The committee, led by Fagbemi, includes former Governor of Katsina State Ibrahim Shema, Sen. Victor Ndoma-Egba, and numerous senior advocates of Nigeria. The inclusion of academicians and other legal experts aims to preempt any issues before, during, or after the convention.
Fagbemi highlighted the party’s commitment to fair play and its respect for democratic principles, aligning its strategy with President Bola Tinubu’s rule-of-law agenda. He noted that the party’s structure is designed to be inclusive, welcoming Nigerians from all regions, ages, and backgrounds, and emphasizing internal cohesion as a source of strength.
