Abuja: Prof. Chris Imumolen, the factional National Chairman of the Accord Party, has clarified that the individuals recently apprehended in Osun and currently under police investigation are not recognized as members or stakeholders of the Accord Party.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Imumolen issued a statement on Friday in Abuja in response to remarks by Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun, who asserted that certain Accord members were detained by the Nigeria Police Force. Imumolen emphasized that the party is unaware of these individuals’ membership and cautioned against associating those under investigation with the party.
He reiterated that the Accord Party is founded on the principles of fairness, justice, and progress, and the party is committed to maintaining its integrity by disassociating itself from actions that contradict its core values. Imumolen stressed the party’s adherence to the rule of law and its non-interference with lawful investigations conducted by security agencies.
Furthermore, Imumolen stated that anyone found guilty of an offence should undergo the appropriate legal process, irrespective of their political affiliations. He also expressed support for a recent Court of Appeal decision regarding the party’s leadership structure, which he believes will provide clarity and bolster the party’s internal organization.
