Abuja: The Seed Entrepreneurs Association of Nigeria (SEEDAN), with Sahel Consulting Agriculture and Nutrition, unveiled a 2026-2030 Strategic Plan in Abuja to improve delivery of high-quality seeds to farmers. SEEDAN President, Mr. Yusuf-Ado Kibiya, highlighted that the initiative demonstrates a commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s seed system and empowering the agricultural sector.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the plan addresses challenges faced by seed companies through enhanced governance, improved seed quality, and sustainable partnerships. Kibiya emphasized SEEDAN’s catalytic role in advancing national food security and boosting regional agricultural competitiveness. The association supports translating research innovations into farmer benefits and advocates for policies and investments that foster a thriving seed business environment.
Kibiya acknowledged the contributions of Sahel Consulting and other stakeholders in developing the plan and stressed the need for ongoing collaboration to ensure its successful implementation. The development plan, financed by the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), was created in partnership with Sahel Consulting. It aims to deepen global engagement and strengthen collaboration with the National Agricultural Seeds Council to improve seed policy, regulation, and quality assurance.
Hauwa Ali of Sahel Consulting stated that the strategy emphasizes building institutional capacity and governance for more effective service delivery to members and farmers. It also focuses on financial sustainability, diversified revenue, and stronger policy advocacy, positioning SEEDAN as a credible and influential entity within Nigeria’s seed sector.
