Abuja: The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has announced that President Bola Tinubu will inaugurate several significant projects in the FCT to mark his third year in office. Wike revealed this information after inspecting ongoing projects across the Federal Capital City (FCC).
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Wike highlighted that these projects are expected to enhance economic activities in the region. Among the projects inspected was the construction of a dual carriageway connecting the Central Business District to the Wuse District along the Transit Way N2 Corridor. Wike expressed confidence that this project will be completed by June.
The Minister also reviewed the development of a 3-km dual-carriageway access road to the Mabushi Bus Terminal in Mabushi District, Cadastral Zone B06, Phase II of the FCC. He noted the progress and quality of work, emphasizing that it will be among the projects inaugurated for Tinubu’s anniversary celebration.
Additionally, Wike inspected the full scope development of Arterial Road N1, stretching from Wuye District to Ring Road II, and the ongoing reconstruction of the 17-kilometer Old Keffi Road from Dei Dei to Life Camp Junction. He described the Wuye to Ring Road II project, executed by Arab Contractors, as a major initiative slated for completion by the end of the year.
The Minister detailed that the Old Keffi Road will connect several districts, including Dei Dei, Saburi, Gwagwa, and Idu Karimo, with Life Camp, with 14 out of 17 kilometers already completed. He emphasized the significance of these developments in opening up the FCT and praised President Tinubu’s efforts.
Wike further explained that the projects are being funded through the FCT’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), as the Federation Account lacks the resources to cover workers’ salaries. He underscored the importance of aggressive IGR efforts, which have been successful thus far.
