Abuja: Edo Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Andrew Obinyan, has celebrated the Esama of Benin Kingdom, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, praising him as a revered living legend. Obinyan, in a birthday message, emphasized that the elder statesman has maintained relevance across generations through his vision, resilience, service, and enduring impact.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Obinyan highlighted Igbinedion’s approach of building bridges rather than barriers, with an open-door policy that allows people from various backgrounds to engage with him freely. Despite reaching extraordinary heights, Igbinedion has remained humble and grounded, never allowing his wealth, influence, or social standing to distance him from the community.
Obinyan remarked, “Your life reminds us that greatness is not measured by how far one rises, but by how closely one remains connected to people.” He noted that Igbinedion’s humility has illuminated his accomplishments, while his generosity has deepened the meaning of his success, endearing him to generations.
