Abuja: The Charly Boy Foundation has extended its support to the Nigerian Navy by offering free Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) screenings at the Naval Medical Centre located in Victoria Island, Lagos. The initiative is part of the foundation’s ongoing efforts to promote men’s health across the nation.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the foundation’s founder, Charles Oputa, popularly known as CharlyBoy, announced this initiative through a video shared on his social media platforms. The screening exercise was conducted in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Bourdillon Prestige, showcasing a partnership aimed at enhancing health awareness among men.
The exercise benefited 120 men, including naval personnel and civilians, who participated in the screening. In a post accompanying the video, CharlyBoy emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating that prostate cancer does not discriminate based on rank or status. He highlighted the necessity for men to prioritize their health and seek early detection to combat prostate cancer effectively.
CharlyBoy also expressed his gratitude to Rear Adm. Ibrahim Shehu, the Admiral Superintendent and Managing Director of the Naval Dockyard Limited, for providing his foundation with the opportunity to serve the naval community. CharlyBoy, a prostate cancer survivor himself, is using his personal experience to lead a nationwide campaign focused on raising awareness about prostate health.
He urged men to undergo voluntary tests for early detection and treatment, underlining the message that health is the first uniform every man should wear. The Charly Boy Foundation, a nonprofit organization, is dedicated to raising awareness about men’s health issues, focusing on mental well-being, diabetes, and prostate health. With support from donors, the foundation continues to implement comprehensive campaigns and outreach programs to improve the health and well-being of men across Nigeria.
