Abuja: Kibaku Area Development Association (KADA) has made an urgent appeal for the establishment of permanent military and joint security formations in strategic border communities between Chibok, Damboa, and Askira-Uba Local Government Areas of Borno State. This call aims to address the ongoing attacks on the Chibok community by Boko Haram.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the request was made by the National President of KADA, Mr. Nkeki Mutah, during a press briefing in Abuja. Mutah emphasized the need for immediate deployment of additional troops to Chibok to prevent further assaults. He highlighted the continuous suffering, fear, and displacement endured by the community over the past decade, despite repeated pleas for intervention.
Mutah reminded the public of the tragic abduction of schoolgirls on April 14, 2014, noting that nearly 100 of them remain missing. He stated that the attacks have persisted, with multiple coordinated assaults occurring in the past week alone across Chibok Local Government Area.
The association also called for support for trained community youths who had received security vigilance training, urging for necessary tools and equipment to aid security agencies in protecting the communities. Mutah appealed to federal and state governments, international partners, NGOs, and individuals to provide emergency relief materials to displaced people and to allow humanitarian organizations to deliver essential support directly to those affected within the LGA.
Furthermore, the national president expressed gratitude to military personnel, vigilante groups, the Nigerian Police, and all security operatives for their continued efforts in defending the community.
