Abuja: The First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, has urged Nigerian children to take responsibility for their lives in order to secure a brighter future. Tinubu gave the advice in a message to mark the 2026 Children’s Day celebration on Wednesday in Abuja. She emphasized that a brighter future could not be achieved through destructive behavior or unrealistic pursuits, but by building character, discipline, and commitment to learning and growth.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the First Lady extended her heartfelt love and best wishes to every child across the nation, celebrating them on this special occasion. She highlighted the theme of this year’s Children’s Day, ‘Future Now: Promoting Inclusion for Every Nigerian Child’, which serves as a reminder that the future envisioned for children must begin with actions taken today. She noted that children are not only the leaders of tomorrow but also active participants in shaping the present.
The First Lady encouraged children to take ownership of today in a responsible and purposeful manner, stressing that the future of every child is determined by the choices made in the present.
