Post: COAS Urges Troops to Intensify Efforts Against Bandits and Terrorists


Abuja: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has urged troops to maintain the current operational pace to decisively eliminate bandits and terrorists operating within their Area of Responsibility. Shaibu issued this directive while addressing troops of the 248 Reconnaissance Battalion in Illela, Sokoto State, which operates under the 8 Division and Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, the statement was released by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Appolonia Anele, in Abuja. The COAS commended the troops for their professionalism and resilience in confronting criminal elements, whose activities have caused significant distress to Nigerians. He praised their operational achievements, noting the security improvements in the region as a result of their continued efforts.



Lt.-Gen. Shaibu acknowledged the troops’ courage and the operational successes achieved thus far. He emphasized that their sacrifices have led to improved security and urged the troops to continue their efforts to eradicate the terrorist threat. “We can no longer tolerate their excesses against the Nigerian people,” he stated.



Further, Shaibu reassured the troops of his commitment to their welfare. He announced plans for the construction of additional accommodations, medical, and other essential facilities at Illela Barracks to boost the morale and effectiveness of the troops and their families.
