Post: Court Jails Tailor 18 Months for Stealing MP Radio


Abuja: A Magistrate’s Court in Jos on Thursday sentenced a 19-year-old tailor, Frank Pam, to 18 months in prison for stealing an MP3 radio worth N400,000. The Magistrate, Irene Pati, delivered the sentence after Pam pleaded guilty to the charge.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, Magistrate Pati provided Pam with the option of a fine of N50,000 or to serve one year in prison. Additionally, the court ordered Pam to pay N400,000 as compensation, failing which he would face an additional six months in prison.



Earlier, the Prosecutor, Inspector Ibrahim Gokwat, informed the court that the incident was reported on January 13 at the Angol-Jos Police Station by Sunday Ladong, the complainant. Gokwat stated that Pam had stolen the radio, which was valued at N400,000, and that the offense violated the Plateau Penal Code Law.
