Abuja: Dangote Cement Plc, Obajana Plant, has expanded its social initiatives by distributing educational materials to pupils in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital. The distribution was led by Ademola Adeyemi, General Manager of the Social Performance Department at Dangote Cement, Obajana Plant.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Adeyemi emphasized that this initiative is part of the company’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) schemes. The Lokoja educational support follows similar distributions in the catchment communities of Oyo, Iwaa, Obajana, and Apata. Additionally, the company inaugurated a multi-million-Naira hospital in Obajana, complementing previous hospital projects in Iwaa and Oyo Communities.
Dangote Cement has invested billions of Naira in varied social programs for host communities, which include empowerment initiatives, road construction, and potable water projects. Adeyemi reaffirmed the company’s commitment to sustaining and expanding these interventions, aligning its CSR programs with government development priorities through mutually beneficial partnerships.
The educational materials distributed encompassed school bags, exercise books, writing materials, water bottles, and other essential learning aids, aimed at enhancing the pupils’ learning experiences. Adeyemi highlighted that this intervention was based on a needs assessment by Dangote Cement, which revealed that many pupils lacked basic learning materials.
Abubakar Sanni, Head Teacher of UBE LGEA School, St. Luke Model II, Adankolo, praised Dangote Cement Plc for the initiative and commended Aliko Dangote, the Group President, for extending educational support beyond its immediate communities to schools in the state capital.
Beneficiaries, school management, parents, and community stakeholders expressed their gratitude for the timely intervention, wishing for the company’s continued growth and success in its efforts to improve lives and support sustainable community development.
