Minna: Driven by its commitment to Nigeria’s economic growth, Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) is partnering with the Niger State Government to fast-track industrialization, unlock investment opportunities, and create sustainable wealth in the State. A statement from the Group Chief Branding and Communication Officer, Anthony Chiejina, highlighted the company’s ongoing collaboration with the state government to deepen economic opportunities.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Dangote Industries Limited, apart from its annual sponsorship of the Trade Fair, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) through Dangote Rice Limited with the Niger State Government for the supply of paddy rice over the next 10 years. The MoU commits Dangote Rice Limited to a guaranteed off-take of 1 million metric tons of paddy rice, which Niger Foods will supply, to boost food sufficiency in Nigeria.
The Regional Director and Senior Adviser to the President and Chief Executive of the Dangote Group, Fatima Wali-Abdurrahman, confirmed the ongoing construction of the company’s rice mill in the state. Wali-Abdurrahman stated that the 32 Metric Tonnes Per Hour (MTPH) Dangote Rice Mill, being developed on a 30-hectare site in Wushishi, is progressing steadily and on track for completion. This project is expected to enhance local rice production, create employment opportunities, and contribute to Nigeria’s agricultural development.
Additionally, the Strategic Business Units of Dangote Group are participating in the 22nd edition of the Niger Trade Fair, which the company is sponsoring. The theme of the fair is ‘Public Private Partnership as the Panacea for Nigeria Economic Growth and Stability.’ Participating units include Dangote Cement Plc, Dangote Salt (NASCON), Dangote Sugar Refinery (DSR), and Dangote Fertiliser Limited (DFL). A special desk has been set up to assist participants with inquiries regarding Dangote Refinery and the company’s vision for 2030.
Speaking at the Trade Fair, Adamu Salihu, Director General of the Niger Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NCCIMA), noted the anticipated participation of over 300 exhibitors, including investors, policymakers, and business leaders from across Nigeria. Salihu emphasized Dangote’s role in industrializing not only Nigeria but the entire African continent. He highlighted the importance of local investment in driving Nigeria’s industrialization and economic growth, in contrast to foreign investments, which often focus on repatriating profits.
Sammy Adigun, Chairman of Niger Foods, stated that Niger State is tasked with developing 25,000 hectares of commercial rice farms and creating 50,000 direct jobs as part of the 10-year partnership with Dangote Industries Limited.
