Abuja: Some political leaders in Ebonyi have called on residents of the state to support the reelection bids of President Bola Tinubu and state governor, Francis Nwifuru. They made the call at a press conference organised by the Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru (FON) Youth Movement on Monday.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Sen. Onyekachi Nwaebonyi, who represents Ebonyi North Senatorial District, emphasized that their appeal is grounded not in sentiment, but in performance, vision, and proven capacity. Nwaebonyi highlighted that the South-East region has seen significant benefits from the Tinubu administration, notably the appointment of Dave Umahi as the Minister of Works.
“Under Tinubu’s bold and courageous leadership, Nigeria has begun the difficult but necessary journey of rebirth,” Nwaebonyi stated. He praised Tinubu’s resolve in navigating Nigeria through economic challenges and noted that this is the first time since independence in 1960 that an indigene of Ebonyi has held the minister of works position, which has bolstered confidence in the administration.
He further mentioned the transformation of infrastructure, specifically the road from Enugu to Port Harcourt, which has seen improvements under Umahi’s leadership. Nwaebonyi expressed the readiness of Ebonyi residents to support the current administration due to visible impacts felt across the country, especially in the South-East.
Dr. Henry Nduka, Chairman of the Central Organising Committee representing Ebonyi, endorsed the leaders based on their proven capacity. He lauded the administration’s focus on infrastructure development, economic reform, and tough decision-making that promises long-term economic growth.
Nduka also praised Nwifuru’s dedication to the welfare of Ebonyi residents and his leadership style characterized by humility and vision. He highlighted the governor’s achievements in education and healthcare, describing them as part of a leadership model that prioritizes the welfare of Ebonyi’s people, creating opportunities for youth and supporting women.
