Uromi: The Edo Government has taken decisive action by demolishing a building allegedly linked to cultism and ritual activities in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area. In an ongoing crackdown, another property has been sealed as part of the state’s efforts to curb criminal activities.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Secretary of the Edo State Security Squad, Mr. John Izegaegbe, stated that the intervention was a result of intelligence and field findings in the area. The operation, named ‘Operation Flush Out Kidnappers and Cultists,’ involved collaboration between the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC), the Police, and other security agencies.
Izegaegbe further revealed that one of the sealed buildings at Ebhoijie-Uromi was linked to a disturbing discovery. The decomposing body of the gateman, identified as Mildah Dalandi, was found inside the apartment on June 2, after residents reported a strong odour. The suspects are currently at large, and authorities have given them a 72-hour ultimatum to report to the Uromi Police Divisional Headquarters or Area Command for further investigation.
He emphasized that the house was demolished as part of the Edo government’s zero-tolerance policy towards criminality.
