Abuja: The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has expressed his greetings to officers, soldiers, and their families on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir. He emphasized the need for continued sacrifice, discipline, and sustained operational momentum in the ongoing military campaigns across the country.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Shaibu, in a goodwill message, noted that the festival embodies values of faith, obedience, and sacrifice, which resonate with the professional duties of soldiers serving in defense of Nigeria. He praised the troops across various operational theaters for their courage and resilience in tackling terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other security challenges, acknowledging the significant operational successes achieved by their efforts.
‘The nation remains proud of your selfless service and unwavering commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,’ Shaibu stated. The COAS also honored fallen heroes, describing their sacrifice as a lasting inspiration, and assured that the Nigerian Army is committed to the welfare of their families.
He reiterated his dedication to improving welfare through enhanced accommodation, healthcare services, education support, and other measures aimed at boosting morale and operational effectiveness. Shaibu called on personnel to maintain discipline and professionalism, and to use the festive period to foster unity, mutual respect, and cohesion within the ranks.
The importance of inter-agency collaboration was also highlighted, with Shaibu noting that synergy among security forces is crucial for sustaining gains in ongoing operations. The army chief expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support of the Armed Forces and urged troops to remain steadfast in their duties while celebrating responsibly.
