Abuja: The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has announced that major infrastructure projects across Abuja city center and its satellite towns have been fully completed and are ready for inauguration. Wike made this statement following an inspection of various ongoing projects in Abuja, indicating that these developments will be inaugurated to mark President Bola Tinubu’s third year in office.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Wike emphasized that these projects are a testament to President Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’, which aims to deliver democratic benefits to the residents of Abuja. During his inspection, the minister expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done, beginning with the Jahi-Wuye interchange. He also reviewed the Airport Road to Kuje being executed by Arab Contractors and the Kuje-Gwagwalada Road project by Gilmor, noting the improved connectivity and reduced travel times for commuters.
Wike highlighted that the journey from the city to Kuje now takes less than 25 minutes, underscoring the positive impact on satellite towns. He also discussed the remodelled iconic Abuja City Gate, being rehabilitated by Julius Berger, revealing plans to highlight its aesthetic appeal through nocturnal illumination.
For the Outer Southern Expressway, Wike confirmed the engineering works and quality of the road project, asserting that governance in the FCT is actively in progress. He announced that the inauguration of these projects would begin on June 8 and continue for 31 days, reflecting the ongoing transformation and the President’s commitment to enhancing the nation’s capital.
