Abaji: Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, announced that the FCT University of Science and Technology in Abaji would commence operations under President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Wike made this statement during a visit to Abaji, where he expressed gratitude to residents for supporting Tinubu’s candidates in the February 21 FCT area council elections.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Wike assured the community that the FCT Administration was actively developing the necessary infrastructure and facilities to ensure the university’s successful launch. He emphasized the significance of the university to the residents of Abaji and the entire FCT, highlighting its potential to create jobs and promote development in the region. Wike expressed his eagerness to inaugurate the university, underscoring the administration’s commitment to fulfilling its promises.
During his visit, Wike thanked the residents for their support in the elections and stressed the importance of recognizing those who contribute positively. He described politics as an exchange of commitments, emphasizing the end of empty promises. Wike reiterated that leaders must demonstrate their ability to deliver good governance and fulfill electoral promises. He acknowledged the residents’ efforts in securing a majority of polling units for Tinubu and assured them that their support would be reciprocated.
Wike also addressed local development issues, promising to tackle gully erosion and reactivate a neglected road at the request of the outgoing Abaji Area Council Chairman, Abubakar Abdullahi. Additionally, he pledged to construct a bridge for the Gurara Market, recognizing the needs expressed by the youth in the community. Wike affirmed his commitment to supporting the community regardless of political affiliations, acknowledging Abdullahi’s leadership.
Abdullahi, in turn, praised the rapid development Abaji experienced following Wike’s appointment as FCT minister, noting the increased Federal Government presence. He attributed the ruling party’s success in the council elections to the projects executed by Tinubu through Wike’s efforts.
