Abuja: The Abdulrahman Mohammed-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT) has announced a meeting on Wednesday in response to the Court of Appeal’s recent judgement. The judgement, delivered on Monday, nullified the party’s National Convention that took place in Ibadan on November 15 and 16, 2025, citing non-compliance with a Federal High Court order.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Appellate Court in Abuja determined that the PDP’s decision to proceed with the convention was in violation of the existing court order. The order had stipulated that the party must meet specific conditions before moving forward with the convention. In light of this, the BoT Chairman, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, has scheduled the meeting at No 1, Sabo Ago Street, LifeCamp, Abuja, at 2:00 p.m.
Ohuabunwa emphasized that the BoT, as constituted by the Abdulrahman/Anyanwu-led National Caretaker Working Committee (NCWC), remains the only body recognized by the Federal High Court’s decision, which was upheld by the Court of Appeal. He urged members to disregard any other notices calling for a BoT meeting and specified that only officially notified BoT members would be permitted entry, advising all others to refrain from attending.
Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, expressed support for the Court of Appeal’s decision, calling it a ‘victory for the rule of law’. He encouraged party members to put aside their differences, cease legal battles, and work towards reconciliation, warning that further litigation could adversely affect the party, particularly with primary elections approaching in April and May.
Conversely, the Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC) has announced its intention to challenge the Court of Appeal’s judgment at the Supreme Court, indicating ongoing internal divisions within the party.
