Umuahia: Mr Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, highlighted the increasing collaboration between the Federal Government and sub-national entities as a catalyst for development across Nigeria. He made this assertion during a reception organized by the Abia Government for the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Media Tour Team in Umuahia.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Onanuga, who leads the media tour team, stated that their mission is to review key federal and state projects, offering journalists a chance to assess these initiatives objectively. He emphasized the significance of the federal and state governments working together to benefit Nigerians, noting that the resources available to states are facilitating projects that enhance citizens’ lives.
Onanuga attributed the increase in state resources to economic reforms implemented by President Bola Tinubu. He stressed the importance of synergy between national and sub-national governments in driving development and delivering democratic dividends.
Governor Alex Otti of Abia, represented by Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu, urged the media tour team to maintain professionalism and objectivity in their reporting. The governor highlighted the media’s role in fostering public awareness of government projects, encouraging the team to provide balanced and truthful reporting.
Governor Otti reiterated his administration’s dedication to transparent governance and infrastructure renewal, aiming to rebuild public trust. He emphasized that the progress visible in communities reflects not just in statistics but in the renewed confidence of the people.
Earlier, Commissioner for Information Okey Kanu noted the visit symbolized the spirit of collaboration between the Federal Government and the Abia Government. He underscored the importance of the media team’s commitment to truth in shaping public understanding of government efforts to address national challenges and improve citizens’ lives.
