Abuja: The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has announced that the Federal Government is implementing bold reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth and long-term development. This statement was made via Zoom from London during the inauguration of the Media and Publicity Subcommittee for the 2026 APC National Convention in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Idris described the convention as a pivotal milestone for the ruling party, emphasizing its role in strengthening internal democracy and furthering the vision for a united and prosperous Nigeria. He highlighted that President Bola Tinubu’s administration remains dedicated to enacting reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Idris stated that the upcoming convention would serve as a platform for members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to showcase unity, discipline, and commitment to national progress. He emphasized the strategic importance of the committee’s role in ensuring effective communication of the convention’s activities and outcomes.
The success of any major political event, according to Idris, hinges on effective message communication to the public in today’s fast-paced information environment. The committee’s responsibilities include ensuring accurate information dissemination, promoting transparency, and coordinating media engagement prior to and during the convention.
Idris further explained that the subcommittee has been divided into seven groups tasked with various media-related responsibilities such as content creation, media relations, and media planning and buying. Other duties include coordinating with other subcommittees on media engagements, documentation, and report writing.
The groups are also responsible for media monitoring, performance evaluation, and reporting in both print and audio-visual formats. Additionally, they will oversee administrative and media activities related to the convention. Idris urged the committee members to approach their assignments with professionalism, creativity, and a strong sense of duty.
‘By leveraging available media platforms, we must ensure that the convention is widely and positively covered while upholding credibility and integrity,’ Idris remarked. He also congratulated the committee members on their appointments.
