Abuja: The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Delta secured the conviction of 31 individuals during its Eid-el-Fitri Special Patrol Mobile Court session on Sunday. This initiative forms part of the command’s efforts to enhance road safety and compliance with traffic regulations.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Mr. Uchenna Nnadika, Deputy Route Commander and Sector Public Education Officer, reported that the mobile court prosecuted a total of 32 offenders for 89 distinct traffic violations, resulting in 31 convictions. Among these, two offenders received a sentence of seven days’ imprisonment, underscoring the court’s commitment to addressing serious traffic violations effectively.
Mr. Nnadika elaborated that one driver faced sentencing for dangerous driving, causing road obstruction, and obstructing a marshal on duty, while a passenger was sanctioned for contempt of court. The recorded offenses spanned a range of infractions including failure to install speed-limiting devices, tyre violations, overloading, breaches of driver’s licence regulations, number plate infractions, attempts to corrupt marshals, and seatbelt violations.
He reiterated the FRSC Delta command’s dedication to strict enforcement and urged motorists to adhere to traffic laws to ensure safer roads for all.
