Abuja: Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has commended the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) for demonstrating purposeful leadership in the country. Sule gave the commendation in Abuja during his investiture as Patron of the institute.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Sule stated that the investiture reflected progress, development, and the institute’s commitment to shaping future leadership in Nigeria. He emphasized the importance of promoting leadership, particularly among emerging leaders, and encouraged a focus on leadership, honesty, sincerity, and commitment. Sule highlighted the challenges Nigeria is currently facing in areas such as security, education, and power, and stressed the need for credible leadership across various sectors, not just at the presidential level, but also among ministers, governors, and members of the National Assembly.
Sule expressed satisfaction with NIPR’s efforts in providing direction on leadership development in the country. He also recounted the initi
atives undertaken to establish the University of Public Relations and Leadership in Nasarawa State.
Earlier, the NIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku, acknowledged Sule’s resilience and progressive leadership in the state. Neliaku revealed that a perception index survey rated the state at 30.4 two years ago, but the figure rose to 83.6 following sustained improvements. He explained that the investiture was part of the institute’s role in monitoring trends, managing perception, and promoting good governance. Neliaku also announced that NIPR is preparing to host the 2026 World Public Relations Forum and the African Public Relations Association Conference in November, with more than 3,000 public relations professionals expected to attend.
The News Agency of Nigeria reported that the highlight of the event was the investiture of Sule as Patron of NIPR. The event was attended by dignitaries including NIPR Vice-President, Prof. Emmanuel Dandaura, Director-General of Voice of Nigeria, Malam Jibrin Ndace, and the Emir o
f Keffi, Dr. Chindo Yamusa III, as well as members of the Nasarawa State Executive Council, State House of Assembly, Fellows and Council Members of the NIPR, and stakeholders in the public relations sector.
