Abuja: The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) announced the recovery of 35 stolen vehicles across the country within the first half of 2025. The Corps Public Education Officer, Mr. Olusegun Ogungbemide, shared this information in a statement released on Friday.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the recovery of the vehicles underscores FRSC’s dedication to national security and public service. Ogungbemide stated that this achievement was made possible through intelligence-led operations supported by the National Vehicle Identification Scheme (NVIS) portal, a data-driven platform crucial in combating vehicle-related crimes.
Ogungbemide detailed that the stolen vehicles were taken through various means such as armed robbery, abduction, and fraudulent schemes. The recovered vehicles include 24 Toyota vehicles, five Lexus, two Mercedes-Benz, one Ford Focus, one Daihatsu, one Pontiac Vibe, and one Toyota Sienna. He emphasized that successful recovery was facilitated through collaboration with sister security agencies and state governments to trace and retrieve vehicles from different regions.
The statement also included remarks from the FRSC Corps Marshal, Malam Shehu Mohammed, who expressed satisfaction with the proactiveness of the corps personnel involved in tracking and recovering the vehicles. Mohammed described these recoveries as proof of the effectiveness of inter-agency collaboration and technological integration in modern law enforcement.
Mohammed highlighted the corps’ commitment not only to road safety but also to enhancing national security via improved vehicle verification and traceability measures. He pointed out that these recoveries reflect FRSC’s persistent efforts in combating criminal activities involving stolen vehicles.
