Abuja:The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesom Wike, has emphasized that Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State remains an active and integral member of the ruling political team. This statement was made during a media chat in Abuja, countering rumors suggesting that Governor Fubara had been marginalized within the state’s political framework.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Wike assured that Governor Fubara’s quiet demeanor should not be mistaken for exclusion or discontent. He highlighted Fubara’s involvement in the Rainbow Coalition and his contributions toward President Bola Tinubu’s re-election efforts in 2027.
Wike also disclosed that Governor Fubara recently hosted a significant strategic meeting at his residence, attended by key political stakeholders, which underscores his active participation in shaping the state’s political direction. He further mentioned that Fubara is set to take a leading role in the campaign efforts, with lists of committee members already submitted.
Addressing past political tensions in Rivers State, Wike attributed these to external influences and attempted political manipulation. He noted that despite such challenges, reconciliation and cooperation have been achieved, with both leaders working together to maintain political stability.
Wike dismissed any speculation about friction with Governor Fubara, stressing their collaboration to protect the state’s political interests. He explained that the Rainbow Coalition aims to unify various political factions and support a common agenda under President Tinubu, avoiding previous legal disputes.
In response to inquiries about the allocation of political positions within the coalition, Wike highlighted the strategy of respecting regional peculiarities while maintaining solidarity among coalition members.
