Kwara State: Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has sent his heartfelt condolences to the former Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ola Sa’ad Ibrahim, and his family on the death of his wife, Hajia Aminat Dupe. Hajia Dupe passed away on Tuesday night following a brief illness. Her Janazah prayer took place at the National Mosque in Abuja on Wednesday afternoon, and she was laid to rest at Gudu Cemetery.
According to Voice of Nigeria, Governor Abdulrazaq expressed deep sorrow over the incident, emphasizing the reminder of life’s transience that death brings. He stated, “We submit to the will of Allah at all times. We ask Allah, the Eternal, to grant Hajia Aminat Dupe Ibrahim al-Jannah Firdaus and uphold her family upon goodness.”
Meanwhile, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, also shared his condolences. In a message through his spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, the Emir described the death as a rude shock, though he accepted it as the wil
l of Almighty Allah. He extended his sympathies to the former Chief of Defence Staff, the deceased’s children, and her aged mother, urging them to take solace in her pious life and supportive role as a wife and mother.
In addition, the National President of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Alhaji Abdulmumini Abdulmalik, expressed his sympathies to Admiral Ola Sa’ad Ibrahim. Hajiya Ibrahim was notably the elder sister of veteran journalist Alhaji Muhammad Tunde Akanbi. The Union’s statement, signed by National Publicity Secretary Mallam Nurudeen Ibrahim, highlighted her contributions as an amiable and diligent wife and mother who supported her husband’s career, leading to his historic appointment as Chief of Defence Staff.
The statement also noted her philanthropic efforts and leadership as former President of the Naval Officers Wife Association (NOWA) from 2010 to 2012. The Union urged all who mourn her loss to accept it as Allah’s will and find comfort in her exemplary life. Alhaji
