Anambra: The Anambra State Government Flood Management Team, headed by Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, has recently taken delivery of essential food items donated by the Bank of Industry to support individuals displaced by flooding in the region. The initiative aims to provide immediate relief to affected communities.
According to Voice of Nigeria, the Deputy Governor was accompanied by Commissioner for Trade and Commerce Mr. Christian Udechukwu and Commissioner for Environment Dr. Felix Odimegwu. The team is committed to ensuring the rapid distribution of these food items to various local government councils and their impacted communities.
In an official statement, Deputy Governor Ibezim stressed the critical need for timely access to these supplies for those affected by the floods. The donated food combo cartons include vital items such as vegetable oil, semovita, noodles, salt, flour, and sugar, offering necessary support during this challenging period.

Dr. Felix Odimegwu called upon Anambra’s philanthropists, businesses, religious groups, and NGOs to contribute additional relief materials. He emphasized the importance of a collective effort to aid those in distress.
Dr. Odimegwu, as part of the flood management team, also highlighted the Environment Ministry’s proactive role in issuing early warnings and providing weekly flood forecasts through multiple channels. This strategy has been effective in reducing panic, increasing awareness, and encouraging individuals to relocate to safer areas before the floods reach their peak.
