Karu: A member of the House of Representatives, Abubakar Nalaraba (APC-Nasarawa), has distributed palliatives to residents of Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State to ease hardship during the Ramadan fasting period and the Christian Lenten season. Nalaraba, who represents Awe/Doma/Keana Federal Constituency, distributed 130 bags of 25kg rice to the beneficiaries at the Palace of the Esu Karu.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Nalaraba expressed that the gesture was driven by his desire for the people to fulfill their spiritual obligations during the holy month. He noted that he had also visited other local government areas of the state to extend the same gesture. He assured the residents of his commitment to their welfare, irrespective of political, ethnic, or religious backgrounds.

Nalaraba emphasized that the palliative is intended for everyone, stating, “As you can see, this palliative is for everyone irrespective of your background. Whether you are a Muslim or Christian, it does not matter. What matters is that you are a resident of this area.” He reiterated his dedication to the welfare and wellbeing of his constituents and assured them of continued support.

The lawmaker reminded the people of his intention to contest for the 2027 governorship election in the state and urged them to register and collect their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) to actively participate in the electoral process. He highlighted the importance of voting for candidates of their choice and encouraged participation in the general elections.

Before the distribution of the palliative, Nalaraba visited the Esu Karu, Mr. Luka Baba, and clarified that his visit was not for campaigning but solely for distributing palliatives. He expressed gratitude to the Esu Karu for hosting him and encouraging the people to participate in the exercise.

In his remarks, Luka praised the lawmaker for what he termed a great sacrifice that will be appreciated by the people who seek impactful leadership. He commended Nalaraba’s commitment to serving the people and extending kindness to the residents of Karu, despite it not being his primary constituency.

A representative of Karu Elders Association, Salisu Danladi, also expressed appreciation for the gesture and assured Nalaraba that the residents would use the palliative as intended.
