Post: Lawmakers Inspect Mina Camp Facilities and Gather Feedback from Nigerian Pilgrims

Makkah: Members of the National Assembly Joint Committee on Hajj conducted an inspection on Thursday night of the facilities and welfare services provided to Nigerian pilgrims in Mina. This inspection is part of the oversight activities for the 2026 Hajj operations. The delegation, led by Sen. Ali Ndume, included members of both the Senate Sub-Committee on Hajj and the House of Representatives Sub-Committee on Hajj Affairs.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the delegation toured several accommodation tents that house Nigerian pilgrims to assess the quality of services coordinated and provided by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON). The inspection included camp facilities for pilgrims from Kwara, Rivers, Ondo, and Adamawa states.

During the visit, the lawmakers sought feedback from the pilgrims on various aspects such as accommodation, healthcare, feeding, transportation, welfare, and other hospitality services. Most pilgrims expressed satisfaction with the welfare services provided and commended NAHCON for its efforts in improving the welfare of Nigerian pilgrims.

Sen. Ndume emphasized the necessity of the inspection to identify areas that require improvement. He encouraged the pilgrims to embrace the spirit of sacrifice, as required by the pilgrimage, while requesting minimal comfort. He stated, ‘The idea of Hajj is sacrifice, and we should try to bear the harsh condition in the hope that the reward from Allah will be immeasurable.’
