Lagos: The Moderator, Satellite Deanery Catholic Lenten Retreat, Rev. Fr. Anthony Okereke, emphasized on Saturday that the habitual practice of reconciliation among people could effectively end acrimony and bad blood in society, consequently fostering peace worldwide.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Okereke, while speaking at the retreat, highlighted reconciliation as a fundamental pillar of the Lenten season. The retreat, designed to encourage adherence to Lenten teachings, saw attendance from delegates representing parishes across the deanery and was held at the Holy Spirit Church Onirike, Ojo, Lagos State.
Okereke called upon individuals, communities, and nations with strained relationships to seize the Lenten grace period to make amends and bring about peace. He asserted that reconciliation, exemplified by Christ’s death, remains a vital recipe for peace in humanity. He urged people to use this time to reconcile with those they have hurt and seek forgiveness, thereby restoring relationships with God and each other, in contrast to ongoing conflicts such as those in the Middle East.
