Abuja: LOTUS Bank, a prominent non-interest financial institution in the nation, has appointed Dr. Isiaka Ajani-Lawal as its new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer. His tenure will commence in December 2025, succeeding Mrs. Kafilat Araoye, the bank’s founding MD/CEO, who is retiring.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the announcement was made by the bank’s Board Chairperson, Mrs. Hajara Adeola, during a press briefing in Abuja. Adeola highlighted Araoye’s remarkable leadership, which saw the bank achieve significant milestones during her tenure, including the launch of LOTUS Bank as a fully licensed non-interest bank in 2021 and the upgrade to a national banking license in 2023.
Araoye’s strategic initiatives led to substantial growth, with the bank’s balance sheet expanding from N30 billion in 2021 to N360 billion by 2024. Additionally, customer accounts increased from approximately 13,000 in 2021 to over 960,000 by mid-2025, alongside an expanded branch network of over 55 locations nationwide.
Under Araoye’s stewardship, LOTUS Bank also made strides in promoting financial literacy and ethical finance across Nigeria, establishing a reputation for transparency and integrity in its services. Adeola praised Araoye for her foresight and impact, which helped shape LOTUS Bank into a rapidly growing, value-driven institution.
As Dr. Isiaka Ajani-Lawal steps into his new role, Adeola expressed confidence in his ability to maintain the bank’s values and advance its strategic goals. Ajani-Lawal brings over 25 years of experience in banking and financial services, having previously served as Executive Director of Operations and Technology at LOTUS Bank. During his tenure, he played a key role in streamlining operations and fostering innovation.
Ajani-Lawal holds a Doctor of Business Administration from the University of Liverpool and is recognized for his expertise in strategy, risk management, and business development. Speaking on his appointment, he expressed his commitment to leading LOTUS Bank towards a future of ethical, inclusive, and digitally focused services.
