Post: Man Takes Legal Action Against Ex-Fianc©e Over Wedding ‘Gifts’

Abuja: A man, Abubakar Lukman, has taken his ex-fianc©e, Fatima Muhammad, to a Shari’a Court in Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, to seek the return of wedding ‘gift’ items he claims were given to her family. The items in question include foodstuffs, an electric kettle, a gas cylinder, a floor rug, sweets, buckets, and dates, which were presented during the marriage introduction.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Lukman informed the court that his decision to end the engagement was due to discovering habits in his fianc©e that he found unacceptable in a wife. He further requested the court to mandate the return of all the ‘gifts’ provided during the preparations for their wedding.

The defendant’s legal representative, Mr. Sani Sanusi, countered Lukman’s claims by stating that all items had already been returned to the complainant. The presiding judge, Malam Yakubu Abdullahi, has postponed further proceedings until September 25, allowing Lukman time to provide witnesses or evidence supporting his claim that the items remain unreturned.
