Banjul: The 9th Nigerian Company (NIGCOY 9) of the ECOWAS Mission in The Gambia was awarded the ECOWAS Peace Medal in recognition of its service in the region. The medal ceremony took place on the 9th of May 2025, marking the completion of their deployment which began on the 26th of June 2024.
According to African Press Organization, the award acknowledges the company’s contributions to peace, stability, and security in The Gambia. The members of NIGCOY 9 were recognized for their dedication and commitment during their service.
The ceremony was attended by Her Excellency Mrs Miatta Lilly French, the ECOWAS Special Representative and Head of Mission in The Gambia, alongside the Gambian Minister of Defence, Honourable Sering Modou, and other prominent civilian and military officials.
