Lagos: Equities transactions on the Nigerian Exchange closed with gains on Monday, with the market indicators rising by 0.07%. The all-share index appreciated by 0.07% to close at 144,722.47 points compared to 144,628.20 points recorded on Friday last week, while the market capitalisation also rose by N60 billion to close at N92,561 trillion.
According to Voice of Nigeria, the market sentiment shared the bullish trend, closing with 43 gainers relative to 27 decliners at the end of the day’s trading. Leading the gainers list were UPDC, with a 10% price gain to close at N7.15k, Aiico Insurance also with a 10% price gain and a closing price of N4.18k, followed by Cornerstone Insurance with a 9.99% price gain, closing at N7.60k.
Conversely, the last three decliners were Stanbic IBTC Holdings, PZ Cussons Nigeria, and N.E.M Insurance Company, with price depreciations of 9.99%, 7.89%, and 7.85%, and closing prices of N100.00, N35.00, and N29.95k, respectively.
Universal Insurance Company recorded the highest volume of traded shares at 202 million, followed by Linkage Assurance with 77.9 million shares. By the end of the day’s trading, a total of 1.046 million shares valued at N15.05 billion were traded in 38,137 deals.
