Lagos: The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has issued a warning to Nigerians at home and abroad, as well as foreign nationals, cautioning them against using unauthorised platforms for passport and visa payments. This announcement was made through the NIS’s official social media channels.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the NIS emphasized that it has not collaborated with any religious organizations, private entities, or individuals to facilitate payments on its behalf. The service specified that the only authorised platform for passport payments is its official portal, with distinct official links available for visa applications at Nigerian embassies and for electronic visa applications.
The NIS advised Nigerians applying for passports, whether living domestically or internationally, to ensure payments are made exclusively through the official passport portal. Additionally, it highlighted that foreigners seeking visas to Nigeria should utilize the designated official platforms for visa applications at Nigerian embassies or for electronic visa submissions.
The agency urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid engaging with unauthorised individuals or platforms to prevent potential fraud or related crimes. It recommended that applicants requiring clarification or assistance, or those wishing to lodge complaints related to passport or visa applications, contact the NIS’s verified communication channels for quick response and support.
The NIS outlined its verified communication channels, which include its official X handle, Facebook and Instagram pages, as well as specified WhatsApp lines for inquiries and assistance. It reaffirmed its dedication to transparent and efficient service delivery and encouraged the public to always verify immigration-related information through its official platforms.
