Abuja:Dr. Esther Okereke, the National Rescue Movement (NRM) presidential candidate, has announced her candidacy for the 2027 general elections, emphasizing her commitment to addressing Nigeria’s systemic failures through a comprehensive policy blueprint.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Okereke, one of only two presidential candidates, presented her ESTHER agenda, which outlines a six-pillar approach to transforming the nation. The agenda focuses on Energy, Education, Economic Renaissance, Security, Social Welfare, Technology, Transformation, Transparency, Healthcare, Housing, Enterprise, Employment, Resuscitation, Recovery, and Reorientation.
Okereke plans to address the country’s energy challenges by generating 20,000 megawatts through mini-grids, which will relieve pressure on the national grid. Her education policy aims to improve facilities at all levels, ensuring students no longer have to learn in dilapidated conditions.
The candidate emphasized the importance of social welfare and security in her agenda, aiming to enhance citizens’ quality of life and boost economic development. She also envisions creating 500,000 tech jobs annually to tackle youth unemployment and corruption, leveraging technology to increase transparency.
Highlighting the housing deficit, Okereke proposed a N500,000 minimum wage, facilitating low-cost housing access for workers. She outlined plans for an electronic vehicle and CNG bus system, using a card-based allowance deduction system to reduce corruption.
Drawing inspiration from Singapore’s economic model, Okereke believes Nigeria’s natural resources and human capital should be harnessed for economic growth. Her policy promises to generate employment through entrepreneurship and technology, enhancing Nigeria’s GDP.
The ESTHER agenda also includes recovering stolen wealth to build infrastructure, with embassies promoting reorientation among Nigerians abroad. Okereke’s diverse experience in various sectors reinforces her confidence in transforming Nigeria.
